A Storm in a Teacup

So the other day I was out shopping with my friend when I saw this dress and got a bit over excited. It was long enough to go past my knees! Being something like 5’10, dresses that are long enough on other people are always too short on me. So many of the dresses I have, I have to wear with leggings or even skinny jeans. So the fact this dress wasn’t just long enough, but went past my knees was a novelty. It’s really pretty too, these pictures don’t show the top of it but it has a 1940’s sort of feel to it. I can’t wait until the weather warms up and I can wear it with my arms out.

The iso is a bit high in some of these pictures as the sun was setting so half of them are a bit grainy. I didn’t realise this at the time and even though I kind of like the effect, it would have been better if they all looked the same. Oh well, I will just have to remember this for next time.

I also went a bit mad in Primark and I have filmed a video on what I bought, which I’ll put up some time next week. I'm blaming the fact there was jumpers on sale for the amount I got, for example this jumper only cost me £2. I also saw the jumper I wore in this post for only £3 now which is kind of heart breaking as I spent £15 on it. This is why I have a love/hate relationship with sales.

(I never realise that I'm looking grumpy until I take pictures. I’m a cheery person, I swear, it’s just my face!)

I’m wearing:
Jumper from Primark for £2 in men’s section
Dress from H&M for £19.99, I wouldn’t of usually spent that much but it was long
Necklace from Primark for £1.50 and it wasn’t even on sale!
Nude tights from Primark
Brogues from Primark I got in a sale ages ago for £6

I’ve already taken pictures for my next blog post as it snowed today, but I was planning to put up my Primark video first. I’ve also made another video that I may or may not put up and am planning on doing a more article style blog post so keep an eye out for that!

  1. I love this outfit! You look lovely. I have the same problem with dresses - I'm the same height as you so I feel your pain on the length situation haa. Since I started limiting my shopping to strictly second hand stores this year, I've found that all the dresses I've found are long enough so that's been rather nice. Although since I started finding longer dresses, I've found myself hoisting them up! Fashion can't win ahah.

  3. This is such an amazing outfit! I love simply everything about it - the necklace is gorgeous and the jumper is such a bargain. The dress is great and something I would 100% wear :)) I really like Primark, but unfortunately I only get a chance to shop in it once or twice a year when I am abroad, beacuse we don't have one in my country :( Have a great weekend! 1. I don't know what I'd do without Primark - most of my clothes are from there. They seem to be expanding though

  4. I love when dresses are the perfect length. That is totally the best.

I also love how you paired that necklace over the sweater. Small details <3

    1. The length of a dress always makes it. I'm glad you like the necklace over the jumper. it wa just a last minute, "this outfit looks too plain" thing.

  5. I have the opposite problem, everything is too long for me! But I completely understand the thing with looking grumpy in pictures, the same thing happens to me too :)

Raccoons and Ringlets

After we went swimming the other day, I just let my hair dry naturally. This produced what has been dubbed as my “triangle hair”. My hair usually curls tighter when I leave it, but I’ve been straightening it a lot more often and it seems to have melted my hair or something because the last couple of times it was just straight frizz. The lighting is terrible in all these pictures so if I look a little red that’s why. The jumper I'm wearing is from the men’s section. I find that guy’s jumpers are a lot warmer and the neck-line is so high, you don’t need a scarf. In Primark specifically, the men’s jumpers seem to be less itchy and wash a lot better as they don’t shrink as badly. The styles are usually very similar to the woman’s and they seem to be in more muted colours which is something I particularly like.      I'm wearing: Jumper from Primark (they are  usually  £6 but I managed to get mine at the start of summer for £3.) Writers block

So I haven’t posted in the last couple of weeks. I had everything ready for posting back however many Thursdays ago it was that I was supposed to post this except for the text. I had no idea what to write for it. I am the first to admit that I'm not very good at writing for this anyway. I’ve never been very good with non-fiction writing. It doesn’t come very easily to me and nothing interesting enough to write about ever happens to me. But ever since people I know in real life started reading this, I feel as though I should be better at this; and my technique for things I don’t think I'm very good at yet, put them off until last minute. One thing with not blogging as frequently as I promised is that even though I have had my hair short for over a month but I haven’t put any pictures up on here. I really like it; I'm even considering cutting it even shorter. I also want to dye it. I’ve never dyed all my hair a different colour; I had it dip-dyed r

M7974 at Ardoch Roman Fort

Last Autumn, I got a swatch of this lovely Atelier Brunette Viscose Crepe . At the time I was looking for a lining to a jacket (that I’m still working on) but it didn’t quite fit the bill. I absolutely loved the fabric though, so I kept the swatch. I had put off getting more to make a full garment because I didn’t trust myself to make something nice enough from it. At the time, I probably only sewed once a week for about 3 hours and the things I made were full of mistakes and dumb fabric choices. I’m going to stick some of these up on my blog at some point but even though I was proud of the fact I could make then, I didn’t really enjoy wearing the clothes enough to justify investing in nice fabric. Another issue was that I couldn’t decide on what to make from the fabric. I was jumping between a blouse or a wrap dress but none of my ideas felt perfect. I really liked the M7974 but I had it in my head that I only wanted to make view C in a light weight linen like fabric and
