365 Day Project: Week 4

I can't believe that January is nearly over. This year has gone so fast so far but I'm really impressed that I've managed to keep this up so far.

A Storm in a Teacup

So the other day I was out shopping with my friend when I saw this dress and got a bit over excited. It was long enough to go past my knees! Being something like 5’10, dresses that are long enough on other people are always too short on me. So many of the dresses I have, I have to wear with leggings or even skinny jeans. So the fact this dress wasn’t just long enough, but went past my knees was a novelty. It’s really pretty too, these pictures don’t show the top of it but it has a 1940’s sort of feel to it. I can’t wait until the weather warms up and I can wear it with my arms out.

The iso is a bit high in some of these pictures as the sun was setting so half of them are a bit grainy. I didn’t realise this at the time and even though I kind of like the effect, it would have been better if they all looked the same. Oh well, I will just have to remember this for next time.

I also went a bit mad in Primark and I have filmed a video on what I bought, which I’ll put up some time next week. I'm blaming the fact there was jumpers on sale for the amount I got, for example this jumper only cost me £2. I also saw the jumper I wore in this post for only £3 now which is kind of heart breaking as I spent £15 on it. This is why I have a love/hate relationship with sales.

(I never realise that I'm looking grumpy until I take pictures. I’m a cheery person, I swear, it’s just my face!)

I’m wearing:
Jumper from Primark for £2 in men’s section
Dress from H&M for £19.99, I wouldn’t of usually spent that much but it was long
Necklace from Primark for £1.50 and it wasn’t even on sale!
Nude tights from Primark
Brogues from Primark I got in a sale ages ago for £6

I’ve already taken pictures for my next blog post as it snowed today, but I was planning to put up my Primark video first. I’ve also made another video that I may or may not put up and am planning on doing a more article style blog post so keep an eye out for that!

365 Day Project: Week 3

So this week I tried to edit my photos as little as possible. I only didn’t use the DSLR once – as I was panic taking it while last minute studying for maths – which meant I’ve relied on changing the camera’s settings more and I have got more confident in working out which one to change. I also took one outside (once). If you liked these you should check out myphotography blog where I'm going to post the photos that I don’t end up using for my 365 day project (please ignore the name, it's an old blog that I have reclained)

This week I'm listening to:

The new Fall Out Boy album is amazing! I’ve been playing it very loudly, on repeat instead of studying all this week. It was so hard for me to choose which one to put on this blog because I basically love them all. In the end I decided on Immortals because it’s in Big Hero 6 which I am extremely excited for.

Liebster Award

So today is not the right Thursday or Friday (which is when I’ve decided is when I’ll post my 365 project updates) but the other day I was nominated by Bobby from Pressed Powder Blog for the Liebster Award (Thank you!). Being new to this whole blogging thing, I know nothing about this. From what I can tell, it’s some sort of chain-mail meme. But hey, I’ll give it a go. Please bear in mind that I’m basing this totally on the rules on Bobby’s post so if I get it wrong, sorry.

Anyhow, the rules are:
1. Thank the person who nominated you.
2. Answers the questions from your nominator.
3. Nominate 11 bloggers who have less than 200 followers. (I’m basing this on Bloglovin’ as I don’t know what I’m supposed to do it on)
4. Create 11 new questions.
5. Notify your nominees through social media
The questions Bobby asked were:

1.Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging this year after getting really into blogs that I was linked to through Pinterest. I thought “hey that looks like fun!” and decided to try it myself.

2. What is your favourite thing to do on a rainy day?
Sit on the internet. That what I like doing most days (to be fair it rains most days), I read blogs, window shop on etsy, watch YouTube and scroll through tumblr. I also like to watch boxsets

3. What would be your ideal holiday destination?
I’m not sure. Somewhere warm, with lots of interesting things to do and interesting shops.

4. What is your favourite meal of the day?
Dinner; breakfast is rushed, lunch is boring, but there is just a lot more variety at dinner
5. If you had one wish (and you cannot wish for more wishes) what would it be?
An end to discrimination. I know, cliché, but it is something that I'm genuinely very passionate and annoyed about.

6. What are your goals for 2015?
To complete my 365 day project, to grow my blog and to more than just outfit posts, and to get a lot fitter.

7. Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?
Genuinely have no idea. I may have met someone, I may have an awesome job, I may still be blogging, and I may even have a kid. Who knows!

8. What was the last random act of kindness you performed?
Umm, I don’t know if this counts, but I was a part of a group that organised a series of charity events for stand up to cancer. I’d like to think of myself as a kind person so I can’t really think of an isolated, “look at what I’ve done” event. That’s a hard one…

9. What is your favourite colour?
Blue. You probably can tell.

10. What is your favourite make-up product and why?
I really like lipsticks because they don’t require much skill and they’re really fun. My favourite right now is either No7’s Crushed Crimson or my slightly old Classic Rose which I think they have renamed.

11. What is your favourite blog post from your blog and why?
I don’t really know. Maybe Clueing for Looks as I really like the dress I wore in that one and I like how isolated some of the pictures looked even though I could see houses from where I was.

So there you go! Most of the answers I started with I don’t know but I answered them all. I'm going to nominate:

1.       Demi from Carbon Chic
2.       Silvia from Kikabibi
3.       Susan from love life every day
4.       Sybille from The New New Girl
5.       Pretty Nostalgia
6.       Sarah from The Salty Sea Blog
7.       Ci Ci Marie
8.       Dominique from Her Fashion Blog
9.       Nikki from Dream In Neon
10.     Kirsten from Kirsten Learns
11.     And any one reading this that wants to give it a go (comment a link to your blog)
(Sorry if I’ve got anyone’s names wrong)

My questions to you are:
1.   What is your blogging process?
2.   What was the best thing to happen to you this week?
3.   If you had one superpower what would it be?
4.   Are you a cat person, a dog person, or neither?
5.   What was the last song you listen to?
6.   What are you most proud of?
7.   Do you prefer morning, afternoon or night?
8.   Are you introverted, extroverted or a mix of both?
9.   What fashion trend can you completely not stand?
10. Name one thing you can’t live without and why?
11. And finally if you could achieve one thing from blogging, what would it be?

(Sorry about the rubbish questions.)

365 project: week 1 & 2

So the first two weeks of my 365 day project have been semi successful. It's a miracle that I’ve kept it up this long and now can do a lot more with the camera’s settings. But I really should have waited until I got a new card reader for my DSLR before I stared. Also I really should start doing more interesting shots now I have the basics down.  (Going outside would be a good idea)

If you want to see more of these photos, I post them on my Instagram and I will be doing a post on them weekly on the blog. I have also stared posting on my old (and slightly cringe-y) photography blog again, so if you want to see more, more interesting photos, please check that out here!

Make Hay While the Sun Shines

Or more like “take advantage of the weather while you can!”
So on Tuesday it snowed and I thought; hey, won’t it be cool to take photos in the snow. But I faffed around and it started to snow again and since my camera probably isn’t waterproof, I decided to try again later. On Wednesday the snow was still there but by the time I got home it was dark. So I left it to today and now, the snow’s gone. To top that off, it’s raining so I had to make do with my blue wall again. (Why did I ever think I could do outfit posts with the Scottish weather…)

I love this lipstick so much! I got it after Christmas as I had a voucher for £3 off No7 make-up. I was going for a colour close to my old one, but got a bit carried away by the bright reds.

If you’re wondering why I’m wearing a ring around my neck, it’s the one from the Lord of the Rings. I'm such a nerd. My mum got it for me for Christmas last year after I spent the whole of December raving about how amazing the two hobbit films out at the time were. My mum is so cool.

Good news though, I’ve now got a tripod so once the weather picks up, I’ll be able to take photos in more interesting places! Probably not for the next post though as I have mock exams to study for, but you never know; this may be my newest way to procrastinate.

(This would have worked so much better if my lipstick was scarlet)

I'm wearing:
Jumper from New look
shirt from H&M
for £7
Jeans from Primark for £11
bag from Accessorize which was on sale for £6
the one ring from Lord of the rings
No7 lipstick in Crushed Crimson (but I can’t remember how much it was)

I'm listening to:

Oh and I’ve decided I’ll either weekly or fortnightly post my 365 day project photos. I’ll do a blog post of the last two week’s photos tomorrow, but I'm not sure what day I will be posting them after that so if you want to be notified on when I do, you should follow me on twitter, bloglovin’ or tumblr

A New Year

So another year has come to an end and I don’t have much to reflect back on. Yes, I have grown more in this year than any other, but there haven’t been any specific things that I am proud of and I’ve came nowhere near completing my resolutions. This year instead of setting resolutions that I conveniently forget within the month, I am going to make ones that I will have to stick to. For starters, my mother and I are going to start an exercise class and drag the other to it. I'm going to try and vary my hair and makeup more and include them in my blog posts. I'm also going to do a 365 project where I take a picture every day. To make sure I’m doing this, I will post them to my Instagram. Hopefully this will make me improve my photos because let’s face it; they’re all pretty bad right now.

These photos are of my outfit from this New Year’s Eve taken on my phone as the connector for the proper camera has broken, so they are all a bit blurry. We had a very casual “party” for New Year’s Eve; basically the little ones danced for an hour before getting bored and watching a movie. I had to go to bed straight after midnight anyway because I had work at 9 the next morning. I hope everyone else had more fun.

(I can tell why people say never to work with animals)

I'm wearing
Badger Jumper from new look
Navy dress from Primark
I got at the end of the season for I think it was £3
Sparkly Tights from Next
Hair Bow from Accessorize which was on sale and only £2.50

I'm listening to:

Happy new year everyone and may this one be much better than the last.
